The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need and demand for automation in the workplace. And that isn’t going to change any time soon. As a leading talent service provider, we’re also seeing it change recruitment practices, benefits and trends – not just in the UK, but the US too.
The question on everyone’s mind is: how do the RPA and IA markets in the UK compare to those in the US? Let’s take a look…
The UK markets
In the UK, there continues to be a strong battle between ethics and the implementation of automation in the workplace. It doesn’t help that many UK-based businesses are hesitant to hire the experts they truly need…
As to be expected, this makes RPA and IA adoption slower compared to other countries – or, in this case, the US. Those businesses that do take advantage of automation generally have a tight budget and are therefore unable to access the skills they require to gain an edge in their industry. As they say, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!
The US markets
The US has always been much more open when it comes to tech adoption – and they move a lot quicker too! Needless to say, this has really worked in the favour of employers, especially recently when access to talent has been challenging.
What’s more, US-based firms also tend to hire a tech team as opposed to individuals. They typically don’t lowball offers either, allowing them access to top talent from around the world. UK businesses could certainly learn a thing or two from this (namely to be less hesitant when it comes to tech adoption!), especially going into 2022.
What about salaries?
Day rates for RPA and IA contractor roles, as well as salaries for permanent positions, are generally higher in the US compared to the UK. Of course, that isn’t to say that salaries for permanent RPA and IA positions in the UK aren’t on the rise. In fact, the British cultural trend around counter-offers is driving inflation in salaries…
