Over the last 12 months, the RPA space has flourished – with the global market growing by $560m. By 2030, it’s expected to be worth $23.9bn. That’s a compound annual growth rate of 27.7%!
Given how essential automation has become to navigating the post-pandemic world, this is hardly surprising. But what form will that growth take? How will RPA evolve in the next few years? In this guide, we’ve listed our top trends and predictions for 2022.
Market-leading vendors will attract more interest
We predict that the interest in market-leading vendors will rise this year as the demand for RPA remains strong. In fact, the signs are already starting to show!
Back in December 2021, SS&C Technologies won a bidding war to buy Blue Prism Group after Vista Equity Partners failed to make a counter bid. This will give the RPA software company access to capital resources, investments and 18,000 new customers.
Low-code platforms will become the new norm
In 2021, low-code platforms gained huge popularity. While the concept itself isn’t entirely new, we certainly expect them to become the new norm this year as businesses realise the time and cost savings associated with these platforms.
We’re not alone in thinking this. Gartner recently predicted that three-quarters of businesses will have at least four low-code solutions in their portfolio by the end of 2024.
Citizen developers will become increasingly important
Intrinsically linked to the increasing popularity of both no-code and low-code platforms is the rise of the citizen developer. After all, these tools enable business users to automate workflows and develop both simple and complex applications.
As more and more organisations adopt these platforms, their employees will no doubt become more effective – especially when it comes to overcoming common business and technology challenges such as productivity.
