The Robotic Process Automation (RPA) market has been rapidly growing and maturing over the last couple of years – and it isn’t going to slow down any time soon.
Some of the world’s biggest organisations are now using (and relying on) RPA to streamline their operations, increase employee engagement, enhance customer service and improve compliance. It should therefore come as no surprise that the global RPA market is predicted to be worth $13.74 billion (£10.19 billion) in 2028 – up from $358 million (£266 million) in 2017.
If you haven’t yet embarked on your RPA journey, here are some things to consider…
Identify RPA opportunities within your business
The first step along your RPA journey is determining the best use cases for automation in your business. While this may sound daunting, PwC estimated that up to 45% of all work activities can be automated – so you should have no trouble identifying where to implement RPA.
Some key processes that are ripe for RPA include:
- Repetitive and tedious tasks
RPA bots are essentially virtual workers that are capable of carrying out repetitive and tedious tasks, allowing your human employees to divert their attention towards the more important, value-adding ones. It can (and should!) be implemented in areas such as data input and validation – two processes that need to happen regularly but that many employees find dull.
- Tasks that are prone to human error
As well as being able to handle tasks that are repetitive in nature, RPA bots are incredibly accurate. Unlike us humans, robots don’t tend to make silly mistakes – and they don’t need to get up and take a coffee break every few hours either! They can run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Time-consuming and time-sensitive tasks
If your employees spend a significant amount of time entering data into a customer relationship management (CRM) or similar system, RPA should no doubt be implemented. Bots allow you to maintain a clean database, which can also have a beneficial knock-on effect on your customer experience and satisfaction rates.
Of course, this list is by no means exhaustive. RPA is also ideal for tasks that are:
- Data and resource-intensive
- Rules-based and consistent
- Performed out of hours (seasonal work)
- Highly regulated by strict compliance guidelines
- Electronic-triggered
If a process happens to tick all of these boxes, it’s a great fit for RPA! So, what’s next?
Begin planning your RPA journey with Edge Tech
Now that you’ve determined whether or not a process is a suitable fit for automation, it’s time to start planning your RPA journey. If you don’t know where to start, you’re in luck! We have the market knowledge and experience required to support you from start to finish.
Our project delivery methodology falls into three stages:
